Matt Brooks - Secretary
Matt Brooks has an extensive career in public and governmental affairs in the State of Indiana, where he has represented various not-for-profit trade associations, managed large scale government grant programs, and developed business partnerships between private industry and government. Matt Brooks has been a leader for 30 years in the State of Indiana in developing comprehensive community mental healthcare policy and legislation, leadership in local government processes, state government administration, and engagement in government consulting services. Matt Brooks utilizes his skills in relationship building, developing a common approach and overcoming complex policy challenges to further established policy goals for the betterment of Indiana’s citizens.
Matt Brooks is also a registered yoga teacher (RYT) 200 through the Yoga Alliance. He currently provides yoga instruction at The Yoga Studio in Indianapolis and Carmel. His passion for yoga is based on the philosophy that a robust asana practice, combined with the conscious application of the eight limbs of yoga, provides a deep and powerful connection between mind and body. He strives to spread the gift of yoga to others, including children, so all people are provided the opportunity for an improved quality of life based on conscious awareness.

EXPERIENCE: President & CEO, Indiana Council of Community Mental Health Centers (2007- present); State Director, MAXIMUS, Inc. (2004-2007); Executive Director, Association of Indiana Counties (1997-2004); State of Indiana, Department of Transportation (1990-1997); City of Indianapolis, Department of Metropolitan Development (1988-1990).

Nick Conterno - Board Member
Nick Conterno is the technology advisor and high school representative for Indy Yoga Movement. Nick is an honor student at Park Tudor School, in the class of 2019. He is a well-versed coder, having completed multiple college-level computer science classes, having worked at a technology start-up in Silicon Valley and having competed in both American Computer Science League and CyberPatriot, competitions within the USA. Having tutored at his own high school, Nora Elementary, and Mathnasium, Nick believes strongly in helping students succeed academically. In his down time, he plays table tennis and watches his favorite sports teams, the Pacers, the Cowboys, and the Peruvian national soccer team. Currently, Nick is working with Indy Yoga Movement to share the unique perspective and mindset of a high school student, as well as to help manage technology in the growing organization. Nick hopes to help the movement that is sweeping Indiana and help bring yoga to children from all walks of life.
Shannon Deganutti - Board Member
Shannon has been a dedicated demonstrator with Indy Yoga Movement since its inception; she also volunteers her time as a bread sorter with Second Helpings, a food rescue and hunger relief organization in central Indiana. Besides serving in her community, other interests include traveling, fine dining, reading a good book, and time spent with her family (not necessarily in that order.) She is a graduate of Pike High School and Indiana University. Shannon earned her Bachelors degree of Social Work in 1991 which is the same year she married her husband. They are the proud parents of two adult children.

Deseri Garcia - Board Member
Deseri’s life of adventure and passion for learning has led her to yoga mats and cat-cow stretches. Along with her pursuit of mind, body and spirit connection, Deseri finds teaching Vinyasa to be a natural extension of her athleticism, and since 2016, she has been enthusiastically sharing the transformative powers of yoga and the positivity of mindfulness with IYM.
After nearly 20 years in corporate America, Deseri launched Vida Aventura, a consulting company that helps individuals and organizations live their true purpose through leadership development, team building and executive coaching. She is an accredited facilitator of 5 Behaviors of a Cohesive team, certified by the Association for Challenge Course Technology, Program Leader for The Coaching Habit and holds a certificate from the Coaching Clinic-Corporate Coach U, as well as a bachelor's degree in small business entrepreneurship. Deseri is excited to bring her knowledge, and passion for self-improvement and yoga to IYM.
